Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is a 2007 video game based on the film of the same name. It stars the Marvel Comics heroes the Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer, and it was published by 2K. It is a sequel to the 2005 game Fantastic Four, which was also based on a film.
The player can take the part of any member of the team and switch between them at any time. Each hero has a power of their own. Reed Richards stretches and reshapes his body, Sue Storm bends light to turn invisible and projects force energy, Johnny Storm controls fire and can fly, and Ben Grimm is very strong and has skin tougher than diamond.
Along the way the team fights enemies from the comics such as the Silver Surfer, Terrax, Red Ghost, Super-Skrull and Doctor Doom. Some missions use the whole team and others are solo, such as Johnny chasing the Silver Surfer over New York, or Sue sneaking through a military base. Fused attacks let two or more heroes combine their powers for twelve different moves, one for each combination of team members. One example is Sue making an energy field that Johnny fills with flame to make a bomb.
The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions were made by Visual Concepts, and the PS2, Wii, DS and mobile versions by other teams. The game came out on June 15, 2007 for DS, PS2, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Reviews were poor. Metacritic scored the PS3 version 47 out of 100. Hyper called the game dull, repetitive and lazy.
