Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom is an action-adventure game developed by Game Republic and published by Namco Bandai Games. It came out for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November 2010 in most regions and in Japan in January 2011.
The story is set in a once rich kingdom that has been overtaken by a mysterious Darkness. Citizens who went to find out what was happening never came back. A young thief sets out to free the Majin, a mythical and very powerful beast, so that it can restore the land.
You control the thief, Tepeu, while the Majin, Teotl, is controlled by the game. You can give Teotl commands, which are used for puzzles and in fights. As the game goes on Teotl gains powers such as lightning, wind, flame and purification. At some points the two are separated and Tepeu has to use stealth, because he lacks Teotl's strength.
The game was first announced at Namco Bandai's press briefing at Gamescom 2009 under the working title Majin: The Fallen Realm. Namco Bandai confirmed a western release in March 2010. It shares ideas with The Last Guardian, but the publisher said Majin was in development before that game was announced.
The game was released in North America on 23 November 2010, in Australia on 25 November, in Europe and Asia on 26 November and in Japan on 20 January 2011. Toshihiko Sahashi wrote the music. Reviews were mixed or average on both platforms.
