Overview

Metal Slug Tactics is a turn-based tactics video game developed by Leikir Studio and published by Dotemu. A spin-off of the Metal Slug series, the game was released on November 5, 2024 for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S.

Unlike the run and gun Metal Slug games, Tactics is a turn-based tactics game seen from an isometric view. The world map is split into regions, each ending in a boss fight, and each region holds several missions with their own objectives and rewards that can be played in any order. If the whole squad falls, the player goes back to the outpost and starts the campaign again, roguelike style. At the outpost, characters' skills are upgraded, weapons take mods, and new items and weapons are bought.

Three members of the Peregrine Falcons squad go into each mission. Each has a primary weapon with unlimited ammo, a secondary weapon with limited ammo and a skill of their own. Special abilities use adrenaline, built up by moving and attacking, and the further a character moves in a turn, the higher their defence. Attacking an enemy that another squad member can also see triggers a sync attack from that character, and now and then a tank can be called onto the field.
