FIFA 15

Overview

FIFA 15 is a 2014 association football simulation game developed by EA Canada and published by Electronic Arts under the EA Sports label. It was released on September 23, 2014 in North America. It is the first FIFA game fully licensed by the Premier League, and the last FIFA on the Nintendo 3DS, Wii and PlayStation Vita.

Ultimate Team adds loan players, who can be signed for a limited number of matches, and the Concept Squad lets you use the game's player database to build a dream squad. Franz Beckenbauer, Roberto Carlos, Peter Schmeichel and Hristo Stoichkov joined Ultimate Team as legends on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. New goal celebrations include Luis Suarez's wrist kiss and Zlatan Ibrahimovic kicking the corner flag.

The PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions run on EA's Ignite engine, while the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions run on the older Impact engine. The producers were Nick Channon and Sebastian Enrique, and the designer was Simon Humber.

A demo came out on September 9, 2014 with eight clubs including Chelsea, Liverpool, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. The game launched in North America on September 23, in Europe and Australia on September 25 and in the UK on September 26. EA announced 35 licensed leagues, over 600 clubs, more than 16,000 players and 41 licensed stadiums, including all 20 Premier League grounds. Lionel Messi is the global cover star.

Martin Tyler and Alan Smith commentate the club matches for the third edition in a row, with Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend on international games. Reviews were generally positive, and the game won Sports Game of the Year at the 18th D.I.C.E. Awards. Players of the PC version reported lag, stuttering and other bugs at launch.

FIFA 15 was supported through Ultimate Team packs and in-game items rather than story add-ons. The Xbox 360 Store closed on July 29, 2024, so new purchases are no longer possible there.

Notes for collectors

• The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions use the older Impact engine, not the Ignite engine of the newer consoles.
• The Ultimate Team legends Beckenbauer, Roberto Carlos, Schmeichel and Stoichkov were listed as Xbox only.
• The achievement list has 38 entries worth 1,000 gamerscore, and the two biggest, Toe Poke and Knuckle Ball, are worth 90 each for scoring one goal with that shot.
• Many achievements tied to the EA Sports Football Club and Ultimate Team need the online services, which closed on September 15, 2021.
• Challenging, for completing a Match Day Challenge in Highlights of the Week on World Class difficulty, is the rarest at about 4 percent.
• It is the first FIFA fully licensed by the Premier League, with all 20 grounds included.
