Overview

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is an expanded remaster of Square's 1997 tactical role-playing game Final Fantasy Tactics, released on 30 September 2025 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X and S, and Windows. Square Enix rewrote and updated the script, added an easier difficulty and options that make the battlefield easier to read, refreshed the graphics and added full voice acting in English and Japanese.

The original PlayStation game is included too, with the translation from The War of the Lions, an added autosave and a set of bug fixes. Content that The War of the Lions added was left out, because the team chose to build on the PlayStation original.

Several of the original staff came back: Kazutoyo Maehiro directed, Yasumi Matsuno wrote and edited the script, Hiroshi Minagawa was art director and Akihiko Yoshida drew the new cover of Ramza and Delita. The original source code had not survived, so the team rebuilt it from several retail versions of the game.
