Overview

Lost: Via Domus, sold as Lost: The Video Game in Europe, is a video game based on the ABC television series Lost. It came out for Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in February 2008, after the show's third season. You play Elliott Maslow, a survivor of the Flight 815 crash who does not appear in the series. The game still features many characters and locations from the show, some of the original cast voiced their characters, and Lost composer Michael Giacchino wrote the score.

The game is split into seven episodes, each plotted by the show's executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. Its timeline covers the first 70 days shown in the series. Elliott is a photojournalist with amnesia, and his lost memories come back through flashbacks, the same device the show uses.

Play is built on fetch quests and puzzle solving in the style of Resident Evil. You explore places from the show such as the beach camp, the Dark Territory, the Pearl, Hydra, Flame and Swan stations and the Black Rock. You talk to major characters including Sawyer, Jack, Sun, Kate, Ben, Juliet and Locke, trade with other survivors, take photographs with a camera and avoid the black smoke Monster.

Ubisoft announced on 22 May 2006 that it had licensed the rights from Touchstone Television to make a Lost game, planned for the end of February 2008. After a long quiet stretch, Lindelof and Cuse said in the show's official podcast in April 2007 that the game was in production, and it was officially unveiled at Comic-Con 2007.

Reviews were mixed. Based on 50 reviews, the Xbox 360 version holds 55 out of 100 on Metacritic. Critics thought it was most enjoyable for die-hard fans of the show, called it short, and criticised the stand-in voice actors. IGN put completion at 4 to 6 hours. Eurogamer liked the idea of a new character who could exist without disrupting the show's timeline, and the graphics and presentation drew praise.
