Rapala Tournament Fishing

Overview

Rapala Tournament Fishing is a fishing game sponsored by the lure maker Rapala. Activision published it on Wii and Xbox 360 in 2006 and 2007. Fun Labs developed the Xbox 360 version and Magic Wand Productions developed the Wii version.

It is a single-player sports game. You build an angler and work through tournaments, with events named after real fishing series such as the Rapala Series, the American Tour, the Lund Series, the Elite Tour and the Ranger Tour, plus Arcade Challenge and Time Challenge modes.

The Wii version came out in North America on November 22, 2006. The Xbox 360 version followed in North America on April 10, 2007.

Reviews were poor. Metacritic scores both the Wii and Xbox 360 versions at 41 out of 100, which it labels unfavourable. IGN gave the Xbox 360 version 4.5 out of 10 and Official Xbox Magazine in the US gave it 4 out of 10.

Notes for collectors

• Fun Labs made the Xbox 360 version and Magic Wand Productions made the Wii version, so the two are different builds.
• The 30 achievements add up to exactly 1,000 gamerscore.
• Quick Fishing and Always Ready are held by 80 percent and 96 percent of players, so they come early in a first session.
• Master of Deceivement is the biggest single prize at 135 gamerscore, for finishing Tournament mode with every character.
• Several achievements, including Fishing Reel Expert, Fishing Line Expert and Shore Fishing Expert, are held by under 1 percent of tracked players.
