First-person shooter
This is the Japanese release of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, a 2007 first-person shooter by Infinity Ward. It is the fourth main game in the Call of Duty series and the first to move away from World War II to a modern setting.
The game plays the same as the North American and European discs. The campaign follows British SAS recruit John "Soap" MacTavish and a United States Marine, Paul Jackson, through a Russian civil war and a coup in the Middle East, and it ends with the hunt for the Russian Ultranationalist leader Imran Zakhaev. Multiplayer uses experience points, custom classes, perks, Prestige mode and killstreak rewards.
The Japanese PS3 disc has its own ID, BLJS10013. Sony's patch server lists one update for it, version 01.40, which is slightly larger than the North American one. A Japan Game Awards listing gives the Japanese PS3 release as December 27, 2007, at 7,140 yen with tax, with Activision as the publisher.
The game was critically acclaimed worldwide, won several Game of the Year awards, and was the top selling game in the world in 2007. A remaster followed in 2016 and 2017.
