About the game

Kinect Adventures! is a 2010 sports game developed by Good Science Studio and published by Microsoft Game Studios for the Xbox 360. It is a collection of five adventure and sports minigames that use the Kinect motion camera, and it was offered as a pack-in game with the accessory. It was unveiled at E3 2010 and went on to become the best-selling game for the Xbox 360, selling 24 million units worldwide.

The game uses full body motion, and every minigame has jump-in, jump-out multiplayer. Each one lasts about three minutes. Most are co-operative in two player mode, and Reflex Ridge is competitive. Xbox Live multiplayer is supported. The goal in every minigame is to collect adventure pins, which earn bronze, silver, gold and platinum medals that decide progress in story mode.

The five minigames are 20,000 Leaks, River Rush, Rally Ball, Reflex Ridge and Space Pop. In 20,000 Leaks you plug cracks in a glass cube under the sea. River Rush has you steer a raft down the rapids by stepping and jumping. Rally Ball is a Breakout-style game where you hit balls at blocks. Reflex Ridge is an obstacle course on a moving platform. Space Pop has you pop bubbles in a zero-gravity room.

Kinect's camera takes photos during play, which are shown to you and saved to a storage device. They could be uploaded to a private area on KinectShare.com, which has since closed, and then downloaded or shared on social networks. As a pack-in, the game also helps with setting up and using the Kinect sensor.

Pre-order Kinect bundles included a card with codes for two exclusive Rally Ball levels, one exclusive Reflex Ridge level and a helicopter prop for your Xbox Live Avatar.

Reviews were mixed. Reviewers liked it as a demonstration of what Kinect can do but wished for more minigames. In Japan, Famitsu gave it 30 out of 40.
