Overview

The PS3 Slim came out on 1 September 2009, a third smaller and a third lighter than the original, with a matte finish in place of the glossy shell and a 120 GB hard drive in the first models.

It runs cooler and quieter than the fat models and is far less prone to the yellow light of death. It plays PS1 discs but not PS2 discs, has two USB ports and no memory card reader, and dropped the option to install Linux. Later Slims went to 160, 250 and 320 GB.
