The DSi came out in Japan on 1 November 2008 and the rest of the world in April 2009. It added two cameras, an SD card slot and DSiWare, a download shop that has since closed.

To fit the new parts Nintendo removed the Game Boy Advance slot, so it doesn't play GBA games or use slot add-ons. Some DS games made later only work fully on a DSi or 3DS.
